Job summary

Fortive in Brighton, East Sussex, is seeking a proactive Buyer to manage supplier relationships and ensure a cost-effective, reliable flow of materials supporting both short-term operations and long-term objectives.

You will raise purchase orders, expedite deliveries, maintain ERP master data, negotiate terms, and drive cost-saving initiatives while collaborating with Production, Engineering, Quality, Sales and Customer Service.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of electronics sourcing and component procurement.
• Experience with low-cost-country sourcing.
• Understanding of manufacturing quality principles.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP or JD Edwards.

Responsibilities

• Raise and manage purchase orders within the ERP system.
• Expedite supplier deliveries to ensure material availability.
• Maintain and improve material flow while achieving quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Manage ERP master data, including lead times, safety stock levels, and Kanban settings.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms with suppliers.
• Drive PPV improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
• Identify, qualify, and consolidate suppliers to strengthen the supply base.
• Support cross-functional continuous improvement and Kaizen activities.
• Assist with New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and supplier onboarding.
