Job summary

McLaren Racing is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to support and improve ERP and manufacturing operations systems. You will handle 1st/2nd line support for SAP, SharePoint, and bespoke software, while aligning with IT standards and governance.

You will design requirements, run SQL reports, and create dashboards to inform operations. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams and training colleagues, with hybrid working expectations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing engineering or operations environment.
  • Experience documenting business processes and capturing requirements.
  • Experience or knowledge of developing or configuring software solutions to meet defined requirements.
  • Working knowledge of SQL.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support for business systems including SAP, manufacturing systems, bespoke software and SharePoint.
  • Support the IT Service Desk in resolving incidents and service requests.
  • Contribute to development, configuration and maintenance of business systems including the primary manufacturing operations system.
  • Analyse existing business processes to identify, recommend and deliver improvements.
  • Perform SQL queries to extract data and produce reports within approved business applications.
  • Support line managers and stakeholders by producing, maintaining and interpreting reports and dashboards to inform operational and business decisions.
  • Work closely with the central IT team to ensure alignment with standards, governance and processes.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across the business as a trusted contact for system queries.
  • Support the delivery of solutions within existing platforms, including Power Platform.
  • Lead business system and process change projects from initiation through post-implementation support.
  • Facilitate workshops to elicit and document business requirements.

Job description

The Business Systems team is responsible for the implementation, support, and continuous improvement of business processes and systems, with a focus on enterprise resource planning and manufacturing operations management.

What You'll Do
  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support for business systems including SAP, manufacturing systems, bespoke software and SharePoint
  • Support the IT Service Desk in resolving incidents and service requests
  • Contribute to the ongoing development, configuration and maintenance of business systems, including the primary manufacturing operations management system
  • Analyse existing business processes to identify, recommend and deliver improvements
  • Perform SQL queries to extract data and produce reports within approved business applications
  • Support line managers and stakeholders by producing, maintaining and interpreting reports and dashboards to inform operational and business decisions
  • Work closely with the central IT team to ensure alignment with standards, governance and agreed processes
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, acting as a trusted contact for system and process queries
  • Support the implementation and delivery of solutions within existing platforms, including Microsoft Power Platform
  • Lead business system and process change projects from initiation through to post-implementation support
  • Facilitate workshops and design sessions to elicit and document business requirements
  • Produce clear functional specifications and obtain stakeholder approval
  • Plan, execute and document comprehensive business system testing activities
  • Maintain clear, timely and effective communication with stakeholders and end users
  • Support the delivery of training for new starters and ad-hoc refresher sessions
  • Identify opportunities to improve training materials, documentation and knowledge transfer
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement, innovation and team knowledge sharing
Working Pattern and Flexibility
  • The role is currently delivered within standard business hours
  • The role requires compliance with the organisation's hybrid working policy
  • As business needs evolve, the role may develop into a shift-based position, including participation in a multi-shift rota
  • Any change to working hours or shift arrangements will be subject to business requirements, appropriate consultation, and compliance with UK Working Time Regulations
  • A degree of flexibility is required to support evolving operational demands, including emergencies and out-of-hours activities
What You'll Bring
  • Experience in a manufacturing engineering or manufacturing operations environment, or strong exposure to manufacturing processes
  • Experience of troubleshooting systems and resolving issues in a structured manner
  • Experience of documenting business processes and capturing requirements
  • Experience or demonstrable knowledge of developing or configuring software solutions to meet defined requirements
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
Desirable
  • Experience with modern development and scripting technologies, including HTML, CSS and C#
  • Knowledge of project delivery approaches, including Agile
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate and SharePoint administration
  • Experience using Power BI, with knowledge of reporting methodologies and data analysis best practice
  • Experience with SAP, Jira
