Our client is seeking a highly organised and proactive Business Support Officer to join their Children, Young People and Family Services (CYPFS) department. You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of an effective Complaints and FOI service across all CYPFS areas including Safeguarding, SEND, Youth Justice, and Early Help.

Key Responsibilities

Provide efficient support for the management and tracking of complaints and FOI requests in line with statutory obligations.

Maintain and update case management and database systems.

Act as liaison between internal departments, complainants, the Local Government Ombudsman (LGO), and external investigators.

Support panels and meetings through preparation, accurate minute-taking, and follow-up.

Communicate professionally with service users, often in sensitive or challenging circumstances.

Process procurement and financial documentation in line with procedures.

Handle confidential records securely and in compliance with data protection and organisational policies.

Collate, analyse and report on complaints/FOI trends and data to support service learning and improvement.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and accuracy.

Experience supporting senior managers and handling challenging enquiries.

Strong IT skills, particularly in case management and Microsoft Office systems.

Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and equal opportunities.

Working Relationships

Liaise daily with CYPFS staff and senior management.

Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders including the LGO, ICO, and public bodies.

Provide guidance and mentoring on complaints and FOI processes to colleagues across CYPFS.
