We seek a skilled and experienced business support officer with knowledge of supporting services for vulnerable adults discharged from hospital and their families. This essential role relies heavily on administrative support to manage workflow within the team.

This position is challenging yet rewarding, involving support to the Active Reablement Team and direct contact with customers and care providers to resolve and guide on related issues.

The role includes:
  1. Managing the service inbox by processing a high volume of emails and coordinating communication with social care staff, health therapy staff, brokerage and care providers, and hospital staff.
  2. Maintaining accurate information and updating relevant databases.
  3. Processing daily emails and phone calls within tight deadlines.
  4. Providing first contact support to customers with advice and guidance, in collaboration with social care duty workers and managers.
  5. Working closely with the Active Reablement Team Manager to obtain information from health systems and update the Council’s Adult Social Care case management system.
You must have:
  • A thorough understanding of working in a business support environment.
  • Knowledge of administration systems and procedures, with competence in IT systems and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Experience with databases, especially Liquid Logic (LAS); knowledge of NHS systems like Cerner and EMIS is advantageous.
  • Skills to advise customers and respond sensitively to contacts and enquiries via phone and email.
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality when dealing with vulnerable customers and sensitive information.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • The ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines in a dynamic setting.
  • Understanding of working within large, complex, and political organizations, adhering to accountability frameworks.
  • Commitment to equality and diversity in service delivery.
  • High standards of ethical and personal conduct.
  • Good numeracy and English literacy skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide administrative and organizational support.
