Summary The Governors of Lytham Church of England Primary School are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, approachable and pro‑active School Business Support Officer to join our friendly team in our busy school office. The role requires excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with a key ability to self‑manage workload. Responsibility will be taken for general record keeping, attendance records/registers, training records, school census, preparing new admissions, and liaising with staff, parents and visitors. Knowledge and experience of school administration, particularly using SIMs is essential. General administrative jobs and other tasks may also be required (e.g. photocopying, scanning, petty cash etc.). The Business Support Officer will be the main interface between school, visitors, parents/carers and the public and will have responsibility for overseeing visitors and contractors, answering phone calls, emails and immediate matters as well as monitoring pupil arrival and departures through the day. The ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, is essential. The appointed candidate will work closely with the team to ensure effective communication with parents ensuring timely updates, newsletters and other important information is passed on. We hope to find someone who takes on tasks with a positive attitude and takes pride in their work. This position requires the candidate to work 37 hours across 5 days per week, 8.30am – 4.30pm. On occasion, it may be necessary to work some minimal overtime (agreed in advance) during busy periods or to attend training. We would like the candidate to work 3 days in the week at the end of Summer term and 2 days prior to school starting in the Autumn term. This will be term time only plus 1 week. Please note that in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026, an online search will be carried out as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates. This position is part time, term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro –rata basis.
