Job description

Salary:£26,847 - £27,709 pro rata

Hours per week:18.5 hours

Temporary/Fixed term:for 20 weeks

Interview date:09 November 2026

We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our Virtual School Team, supporting children and young people with a social worker, those in care, and care leavers to achieve the very best educational outcomes. This is a rewarding role within a passionate and supportive team committed to making a real difference in the lives of young people.

As a Business Support Officer, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the service, providing high-quality administrative support and helping to ensure the team can effectively deliver its work. Working in a busy and varied environment, you will need to be organised, adaptable, and able to manage changing priorities whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. You will act as a first point of contact for enquiries from professionals, families, and young people, maintain accurate records and databases, produce reports and correspondence, undertake data checking and cleansing activities, and support service planning, performance monitoring, and improvement initiatives. You will also contribute to projects, including gathering and recording the views of children and young people, and work closely with colleagues across the council, education settings, partner agencies, and families to support positive outcomes.

We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who have care experience. We value the insight, resilience, and unique perspective that lived experience can bring and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, contribute to meaningful work, and be part of a team dedicated to improving the educational experiences and life outcomes of children and young people. If you are motivated, organised, and passionate about making a positive difference, we would love to hear from you.
