Job summary

Manchester City Council is seeking a Business Support Officer to provide essential admin support across the centre, including reception duties, telephone answering, data input and document scanning.

You will work across North, South and Central Manchester, demonstrate excellent keyboard skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office, and the ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines while delivering strong customer service to residents and learners.

Qualifications

  • Excellent keyboard skills and working knowledge of Microsoft IT packages.
  • Be a team player and able to prioritise workload to deadlines.
  • Confident speaking to residents and learners in person and on the telephone.
  • Willing to achieve a Level 2 Business Admin qualification within two years.

Responsibilities

  • Provide admin support to professional staff within the centre.
  • Meet and greet learners and residents at reception and answer the telephone.
  • Data input, scanning and uploading of documents, ordering goods and services.
  • Processing invoices and other administrative tasks to support teams.

We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic and keen to learn. You will need to possess excellent keyboard skills and have a working knowledge of Microsoft IT packages. You will need to be a team player and will need to be able to prioritise your own workload and work to deadlines. You must be able to use your own initiative. You will need excellent customer service skills and will need to be confident speaking to residents and learners both in person and on the telephone.

As a Business Support Officer, you will provide admin. support to the professional staff within the centre. The duties are varied but may include meeting and greeting learners and residents at reception, answering the telephone, data input, scanning and uploading of documents, ordering goods and services, processing of invoices and many other administrative tasks. Regardless of the team they are based in, through the work that they do, Business Support Officers play a valuable role in helping residents of Manchester. We cover North Manchester, South Manchester and Central Manchester.
