The Business Support Officer plays a key role in supporting the effective delivery of the Gypsy and Traveller Team through financial administration, income processing, budget monitoring, data management, reporting, and business support. The post holder will manage a varied workload, maintain accurate financial records, reconcile income and expenditure, support budget planning and monitoring, and ensure transactional processes comply with Council standards. They will also provide advice on policies and procedures, handle complex enquiries and complaints, produce management information, support project delivery and service improvements, deliver training, and deputise for managers when required, helping to ensure an efficient, compliant, and financially accountable service.

We Are Looking For Candidates Who Have
  • Ability to plan and organise a varied workload for self and others, working to varying deadlines. Essential for managing multiple priorities, financial processes, reporting requirements, and competing deadlines.
  • Ability to use own initiative to solve problems, improve processes, and welcome change. Important for identifying efficiencies, supporting service improvements, and resolving administrative and financial issues.
  • Developed ICT skills, including ability to accurately input and check data. Critical for maintaining financial records, processing income, managing databases, and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and clearly present data, some of which may be complex, in line with Data Protection regulations. Key to producing management reports, monitoring performance, and supporting evidence-based decision-making.
  • Budget planning and monitoring principles and processes. Fundamental to the role's responsibility for income processing, budget monitoring, reconciliations, and financial administration.
