Job description

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

This role supports the Global FX Services (GFS) COO and the five-service GFS business: Custody FX, FX Overlay, FX Prime Services, Execution & Trading Services, and Transactional FX. The GFS Business Manager will join the wider Global Macro FX, Rates & Commodities Business Management function.

It’s a broad, high-impact role covering strategic business management, project and change delivery, performance oversight, governance, financial discipline and day-to-day support. Reporting to the Global COO, the role will help shape and deliver the strategic agenda while maintaining operational discipline and resolving issues effectively.

The role will drive strategic change, support growth, improve governance and management information, simplify processes and strengthen controls. It will also coordinate and elevate issues across the business, functions and regions, ensuring they’re identified and managed promptly.

This role suits someone experienced in coordinating complex work, solving business problems and engaging multiple stakeholders who wants to build a career in business management.

What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate the execution of the strategic change agenda across GFS, ensuring initiatives are prioritised, governed and delivered effectively
  • Support the development of business strategies, operating models and implementation plans that improve scalability, efficiency and client proposition
  • Establish and maintain effective governance, tracking strategic priorities, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues and clear ownership across programmes and initiatives
  • Coordinate the initial assessment and escalation of business and delivery issues, working with senior colleagues to agree the appropriate response
  • Partner with multiple CIB stakeholders, including Sales, Trading, SSv, GPS, Operations, IT, Finance, Product Control, Legal, Risk, Compliance and Non-Financial Risk to influence outcomes and support execution
  • Develop high-quality business cases, proposals, presentations, leadership materials and other management documentation for senior forums and decision-making
  • Own and enhance management information through AI Studio, including dashboards and weekly, monthly and quarterly management packs that clearly communicate business performance
  • Support each business with planning activities, including operating plans, target setting, cost management, headcount oversight and investment prioritisation
  • Oversee third-party vendor administration and support appropriate governance, cost discipline and delivery oversight
  • Support the development of the digital, data and automation agenda, including the use of AI Studio and other tools to improve management insight, business efficiency and decision-making
  • Work closely with IT and operational partners to minimise the impact of production incidents and ensure appropriate follow-up on recurring issues, automation opportunities and process remediation
  • Build business knowledge and contribute to the review of operational incidents, root causes and remediation actions
  • Promote consistency of approach across regions and GFS businesses, sharing best practice and helping to implement global standards where appropriate
  • Support leadership communications, cross-regional coordination and organisational effectiveness across the GFS franchise
  • Maintain strong awareness of business, market, operational and regulatory developments that may impact the business, and help manage change effectively in response
  • Support adherence to relevant internal policies, external regulations, audit requirements and control standards across the business
What You Need To Succeed In This Role
  • An end‑to‑end understanding of Global Markets, including relevant product strategies, business models and day‑to‑day operations, together with an interest in developing knowledge of the broad Global FX Services franchise
  • Experience in business management, strategic project management, transformation or change delivery within a global financial services environment or a keen interest in developing as a business manager
  • Proven track record of delivering large or complex initiatives across multiple stakeholders, functions and regions
  • Experience translating strategic priorities into practical execution plans, governance structures and measurable outcomes
  • Strong experience in business performance management, management information, operating rhythms and senior stakeholder reporting
  • Sound financial and commercial acumen, including experience in budgeting, cost management, headcount planning and business case development
  • Awareness of risk, governance and control considerations
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across senior business, functional and regional stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce high‑quality papers, presentations and management materials
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and judgement skills, with the ability to manage ambiguity and prioritise effectively
  • Ability to work across global teams and operating effectively in culturally diverse environments
  • Well organised, able to balance strategic work with day‑to‑day business management, issue resolution and escalation
  • Proven ability to coordinate and prioritise multiple workstreams and ensure decisions are taken within required timelines
Required Skills
  • Organisation and follow‑through
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Analytical thinking
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn
  • Confidence working with different stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritise and raise issues promptly
  • Knowledge of FX Services, financial planning, formal governance and business management processes would be beneficial
