Job summary

Staffordshire County Council's Lichfield Family Hub is seeking a part-time receptionist to welcome families and young people, handle enquiries and provide friendly customer care.

You will manage incoming calls and emails, register new service users, signpost to activities, input data and offer information, advice and guidance.

Based at Lichfield Family Hub, you may occasionally cover across the county; interviews are scheduled for 22 September 2026.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English or equivalent is required.
  • Experience of using computer-based information systems in an office environment is essential.
  • Good written and oral communication skills with children, young people and parents are required.
  • Evidence of excellent customer service and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer care and a professional reception service welcoming families, children and young people into the Family Hub.
  • Manage incoming telephone calls, emails and enquiries about services.
  • Register new service users and signpost to relevant activities and provision within the district.
  • Data inputting and general admin.
  • Provide information, advice and guidance to visitors and callers.

Job description

Our Family Hubs offer a local support centre for families with children and young people aged 0-19 years, (aged 25 with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)).

They are a place:

  • to get help, information, advice, guidance and support to overcome difficulties and build stronger relationships.
  • that provides a multiagency offer that can be accessed face to face or virtually.

We have a post available for 14.5 hours per week at Lichfield Family Hub, WS13 7PH

Hours of work
  • Wednesday 08:30-17:00
  • Thursday 08:30-16:30
Main Responsibilities

You will provide excellent customer care and a professional reception service meeting and welcoming families, children and young people into our Family Hubs.

You'll also:

  • manage incoming telephone calls, emails and enquiries about services
  • registernew service users and signposting to relevant activities and provision within the district.

  • provide information, advice and guidance
The Ideal Candidate

The minimum essential criteria that will be assessed for the purposes of shortlisting will be,

  • GCSE English or equivalent
  • Experience of using computer-based information systems in an office environment
  • Good written and oral communication skills with children, young people, and parents as customers, as well as staff from partner organisations
  • Evidence of excellent customer service skills and the achievement of high-quality services
  • Evidence of being able to adapt to changing work priorities

You will be based at Lichfield Family Hub and may occasionally be required to provide ad hoc cover around the County or in our Community Venues within the district.
