Job description

Join us as a Business Risk Manager, Lending C&I Business Risk

  • Play a pivotal role by supporting the Business Risk Partner and business teams to proactively identify, assess, monitor, and report enterprise-wide risk across the supported business area
  • Use your expertise in business risk management by enabling safe growth in line with strategic goals, transformation, and consistent delivery of good customer outcomes
  • Make a meaningful impact by ensuring risks are managed within appetite and that key risk controls operate effectively across the business
What you'll do

As a Business Risk Manager, you'll act as a trusted point of contact for the business, providing real-time insight of the end-to-end risk profile and contributing to the ongoing review of Risk and Control Self-Assessments through proactive monitoring and governance reporting. You'll also deliver intelligent insight through engagement with business leaders and partners across all three lines of defence, helping to ensure effective risk management and informed decision-making.

Moreover, you'll analyse risk and control data, including events, issues, and management information, to identify control weaknesses and support the implementation of effective management actions. You'll also coordinate risk and control assessments, risk forums, governance reporting, and remediation plans, while escalating emerging risks and control issues to the Business Risk Partner with recommendations that support safe business growth and good customer outcomes.

In addition, you'll be:

  • Leading risk reporting into nominated forums to facilitate active oversight of risk exposure and control environments, including the publication of minutes and timely closure of actions
  • Tracking remediation, audit, and regulatory actions through to closure, challenging evidence quality and overdue actions to ensure they contribute to a strong risk and control environment
  • Leading the oversight of risk and control data in systems of record to ensure accurate real-time recording and provide an up-to-date view for the Business Risk Partner and the supported business
  • Identifying and implementing simple, consistent risk practices and supporting broader continuous improvement across day-to-day risk management within the aligned business area
The skills you'll need

We're looking for someone with excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, as well as a good understanding of the Commercial and Institutional banking business. You will have experience and a solid working knowledge of enterprise-wide risk management frameworks, including control design, governance, data analysis, and risk culture. You should also be able to translate policy and framework requirements into simple day-to-day risk and control activities, enabling business colleagues to manage risk effectively.

To succeed in this role, you must bring a strong analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret management information, identify risk and control improvement opportunities, and deliver clear recommendations and reporting that support effective management action and informed decision-making.

In addition, you'll need:

  • Sufficient experience aligned to the business area assigned to the role, such as Customer Distribution, Product with a focus on Lending or Transaction Services, Digital Banking, or Technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills, including oversight and tracking, with a focus on evidence quality and meeting deadlines
