Job summary

AIRBUS Defence and Space Limited is offering an internship in Stevenage within our Business Operations Team. You will gain hands-on experience in resource planning, governance, and project delivery across multiple programmes, interfacing with Business Winning and Delivery teams to monitor demand for staffing in R&D and delivery activities.

Responsibilities

• Generate and adjust resource planning projections for Operational Planning.
• Assist Strategic Planning to create scenario plans and maintain transparency in evolving resource plans.
• Interact with off-the-shelf and bespoke tools to ensure data accuracy and reporting.
• Provide historical project data to support various reporting and modelling needs.
• Support governance, compliance, and transformation initiatives across the Business.

We have an exciting internship opportunity within our Business Operations Team to gain hands‑on experience in the application of conceptual and theoretical resource planning at the Space Digital UK level. In this role, you will directly interface with all Business Winning and Delivery teams, helping to monitor and control the demand for staffing across our Research & Development, Business Winning, and Project/Service Delivery activities.

What you will be doing:

The successful candidate will become an integral member of the Business Operations Team, which primarily controls / monitors Organisational Planning, Governance, Transformation, Improvement, Knowledge Management, Collaboration and Special Projects across multiple locations; whilst additionally coordinating Business Performance Reporting, supporting the development of Business Strategy and maintaining the Business Continuity Framework.

Whilst working within the Business Operations Team and the wider Business the successful candidate will have access to a vast training library that will aid the development of an introductory level of project planning, cost control, and analysis methodologies and techniques, which will be used to:

• Generate and adjust resource planning projections to support the Operational Planning activities that are performed between the Business Winning, Delivery and Functional Teams;
• Assist Strategic Planning Team to ensure seamless resource planning by generating customised scenario plans and establishing a regular dialogue that maintains transparency as resource plans evolve;
• Interact with a wide variety of off-the-shelf and bespoke tools to ensure the Business Operations Team use best practice and that data is recorded/reported to a high level of accuracy;
• Supply project history research that develops analysis supporting a variety of operational planning activities, providing recommendations and requirements to enhance standardised reports and bespoke modelling;
• Support the monitoring and Governance over Organisational Compliance, the implementation of Business Continuity management activities and the various Transformation and Change initiatives across the Business.

Requirements:

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only . Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

• Currently studying a Business Undergraduate degree course;
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
• The ability to listen, understand and communicate information;
• Attention to detail and good written / verbal communication skills;
• The desire to work in an open and trusting environment;
• A strong interest in developing yourself;
• Good organisational skills and an interest in finding creative solutions to complex problems;
• Able to make decisions based on evidence;
• Experience of using databases is beneficial, but not essential.

This Job Request will be allocated to the projected Joint‑Venture scope towards a leading European player in space.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
