Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking an experienced Business Manager to support Housing Repairs & Maintenance through strategic and operational leadership. You will work with the Assistant Director to drive improvement, coordinate governance, planning and service change, and ensure robust processes for decision-making across a major front-line service.

Help Shape the Future of Housing Repairs & Maintenance

Housing Services is on a significant improvement and transformation journey. Through the Future Sheffield programme and the development of a new Housing Repairs & Maintenance Operating Model, we are reshaping how services are delivered to improve outcomes for tenants, strengthen performance and create a more sustainable service for the future.

We are seeking an experienced, proactive and highly organised Business Manager to work alongside the Assistant Director for Housing Repairs & Maintenance during this exciting period of change. Sitting at the heart of one of the Council's largest frontline services, you will play a critical role in supporting leadership, driving continuous improvement and helping to deliver transformational change across the service.

This is a diverse and influential role, providing both strategic and operational support across business planning, performance management, governance, service improvement and organisational change. Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders, you will help coordinate improvement activity, monitor delivery against priorities, and ensure robust systems, processes and decision-making arrangements are in place.

As the service continues its improvement journey, you will be instrumental in identifying opportunities to work more effectively, embedding new ways of working, and supporting the successful delivery of change. Your work will help ensure that Housing Repairs & Maintenance is well positioned to meet future challenges, deliver high-quality services and provide the best possible outcomes for tenants and communities across Sheffield.

You will have experience of supporting senior leaders and managing complex business activities within a large organisation. You will be confident working across a range of priorities, from performance and governance to planning, transformation and service improvement, and comfortable building effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
