Job summary

Explore Group, a leading European tech scale-up, is hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer to bridge data engineering and commercial insights, taking full ownership of transformation and semantic layers in our analytics stack.

You will build scalable models with dbt on BigQuery, own the semantic layer and Looker dashboards for self-serve analytics, define core metrics, and optimise queries to control costs.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in Analytics Engineering or BI roles.
• Expert SQL and dimensional data modelling.
• Hands-on dbt and modern cloud data warehouses (BigQuery or Snowflake).
• Dashboard and semantic development in Looker (LookML preferred).
• Strong stakeholder management across product, commercial, and finance.

Responsibilities

A leading European tech scale-up is hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer to bridge data engineering and commercial insights, taking full ownership of their transformation and semantic layers.

What you will be doing:

• Build and maintain scalable data models using dbt and BigQuery (star schema/dimensional modelling)
• Own the semantic layer, explores, and dashboards in Looker for self-serve analytics
• Define, govern, and standardise core business and operational metrics
• Set up automated testing, CI/CD checks, and documentation in dbt
• Optimise SQL queries and warehouse performance to manage BigQuery compute costs

What you need:

• Strong track record as an Analytics Engineer, BI Developer, or BI/Data Analyst
• Expert SQL and dimensional data modelling experience
• Production-level experience with dbt and modern cloud data warehouses (BigQuery or Snowflake)
• Hands-on dashboard and semantic development in Looker (LookML preferred)
• Excellent stakeholder management skills across product, commercial, and finance
