Job summary

Science Group plc is seeking a Finance Manager for the Sagentia Innovation Practice in Cambridge to lead the local Finance team and work with senior leadership to drive profitability and cash, with a hands-on approach to analysis and reporting.

You will prepare management accounts, support budgeting and forecasting, and drive process improvements across the division, reporting to the Finance Director and collaborating with MDs and partners.

We are looking for a Finance Manager for the Sagentia Innovation Practice to work with the senior leadership team and be an important contributor to the running of the Division

Description

Our projects span surgical robots for minimally invasive surgery, non-invasive prenatal testing, precision agricultural machinery, and mobile apps for implantable devices, among others.

The opportunity

In this role, you shall work closely with senior management and the consultants to support them in understanding the performance of the business and interpret the financial results and KPIs to maximize cash and profitability, including recommending and subsequently implementing changes to the business processes, operations and controls. You shall use your excellent management skills coupled with a thorough knowledge of finance and commercial principles to utilise, prepare and analyse operational and financial reports and forecasts for the division. This is a hands-on role and you shall be in the detail to understand the results, ensure their accuracy and explain these results to senior management. Reporting to the Finance Director and will be expected to direct, lead and most importantly motivate the local Finance team, ensuring team and individual objectives are clearly defined, supported and successfully delivered.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation and review of management accounts
• Supporting P&L budgeting and forecasting
• Ownership of process adherence and improvement
• Continual improvement of information reported including heavy use of spreadsheet modelling
• Support to the Finance Director, Managing Director and Managing Partners.
• Preparation and support for Group and Divisional reporting (including quarterly sales commission calculations, billed hours bonus schemes and various cost analysis)
• Bids and Proposals
• Manage direct and indirect reports
• Support Project Finance Team with complex projects and financial queries

About You

You will have an eye for detail and will have the curiosity to analyse and interrogate the various pieces of information to provide meaningful analysis and support to your business contacts. You'll have the confidence to instil financial discipline and the communication skills to explain your analysis to your business partners.

Experience & Qualifications

• Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner and use this to influence others (finance and non-finance staff)
• An analytical approach to resolving problems and finding effective solutions
• CIMA/ACCA/ACA or qualified by experience
• Experience in modelling and analysing large volumes of data and interpretation of financial information
• Organised and able to manage competing priorities with multiple stakeholders
• Experience of processing and managing month end routines and process
