Finning (UK) Ltd, the world's largest Caterpillar dealer, seeks a driven Business Development Manager to accelerate growth in the Caterpillar Industrial Engines division across the UK. You will develop new business, expand market share, and build long-term OEM relationships.

Role focuses on identifying opportunities, re-engaging dormant accounts, and delivering power solutions with industry-leading engine ranges. You will work with cross-functional teams to create value for customers and Finning.

Competenze

• Minimum 5 years' experience in business development, sales, or account management within industrial engines and related sectors.
• Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
• Experience building long-term customer relationships and new business.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence senior decision makers.
• Experience creating commercial proposals and customer presentations.
• Understanding of B2B sales processes and complex sales cycles.
• Knowledge of engine applications, power systems, gensets, or low-carbon tech advantageous.

Job Description:

The Business Development Manager will play a key role in identifying and winning new opportunities, re‑engaging dormant accounts, and helping customers find innovative power solutions through Caterpillar's industry‑leading engine range. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to drive revenue and market share growth across the Cat Industrial Engines portfolio.
• Identify, engage, and convert new customers while reactivating and developing underutilised accounts.
• Build strong relationships with OEMs, manufacturers, engineering businesses, and key industry stakeholders.
• Generate and qualify new sales opportunities through proactive customer engagement and face‑to‑face meetings across the UK.
• Collaborate with Finning sales teams to identify opportunities within existing customer portfolios.
• Work closely with engineering, commercial, supply chain, and product support teams to deliver best‑in‑class customer solutions.
• Manage opportunities through the sales pipeline, maintaining accurate forecasts and CRM records.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, customer requirements, and emerging technologies to identify growth opportunities.
• Represent Finning and Caterpillar at customer events, exhibitions, trade shows, and industry networking activities.
• Support new product introductions and market expansion initiatives through customer insight and commercial expertise.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in business development, sales, or account management within:
  • Industrial engines
  • Power systems
  • Capital equipment
  • Industrial manufacturing
  • Related engineering sectors
• Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales and growth targets.
• Experience developing new business and building long‑term customer relationships.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including influencing senior decision makers.
• Experience creating and delivering compelling commercial proposals and customer presentations.
• Strong understanding of B2B sales processes and complex sales cycles.
• Ability to understand customer requirements and position technical solutions effectively.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market trends and competitor activity.
• Knowledge of industrial engine applications, power systems, gensets, hybrid solutions, or low‑carbon technologies would be highly advantageous.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related discipline (desirable).
• Professional qualification in Sales, Business Development, or Account Management (desirable).
