We are seeking highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager - Construction Machinery to join our team, specialising in Construction Machinery. This role involves managing the entire sales process, from identifying and developing new business opportunities to maintaining strong relationships with existing customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving sales targets, driving revenue growth, and ensuring customer satisfaction through exceptional service and support.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales and Business Development

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Identify new business opportunities and actively seek out potential customers.
  • Expand the client base by engaging with key decision-makers in target industries.
  • Promote and sell a range of machinery products, ensuring alignment with customer needs.
  • Monitor market trends, collect industry and competitor information, and develop sales strategies.
  • Lead the product development team to improve products to meet market demands.
  • Assist with product certification and licensing in the UK and Ireland to ensure compliance with local regulations and market entry requirements.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers to drive repeat business.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing excellent customer service.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups and site visits to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Handle customer inquiries, provide technical guidance, and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Monitor and manage sales budgets, ensuring alignment with company revenue goals.
  • Prepare accurate sales reports, forecasts, and performance analysis for management.
  • Negotiate pricing and contract terms with customers to maximize profitability.
  • Chase outstanding payments and ensure timely collections from clients.

Coordination with Other Departments

  • Collaborate closely with the service, parts, and aftermarket teams to ensure seamless support for customers.
  • Work with finance and accounts teams to track payments, credit terms, and financial documentation.
  • Coordinate with marketing to develop promotional strategies, campaigns, and customer engagement initiatives.
  • Engage with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery of machinery and parts.
  • Address any customer concerns related to machinery performance, service, and repairs.

Other tasks assigned by line managers

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in machinery sales, construction equipment, or a related industry.
  • Strong sales acumen with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while being a team player.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and sales processes.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Full UK driving license (or applicable license for the location).
