RE Personnel is recruiting a commercially minded Business Development Manager for our client in the manufacturing and engineering sector, based in Tewkesbury. The role is full-time and permanent, with travel across the UK and 1 day per week onsite at the Tewkesbury location.
You will identify opportunities, win new business and grow existing accounts, leveraging an engineering or manufacturing background and the ability to read technical drawings.
Our client, a well-established business within the manufacturing and engineering industry, based in Tewkesbury, has an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded Business Development Manager to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys winning new business, building long-term customer relationships and getting involved in technical projects from the initial conversation through to completion. The role offers plenty of autonomy, with the opportunity to make a real impact on the company's continued growth. Although the company is based in Tewkesbury, requirement to visit the site will be 1 day a week.
The successful Business Development Manager should have:
A strong sales and business development background, with a proven ability to identify opportunities, win new business and grow existing accounts
An engineering or manufacturing background, or previous experience selling technical products or services within a B2B environment
The ability to read and interpret technical drawings, or a willingness to develop this knowledge
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage with customers, understand their requirements and develop long-term partnerships
A proactive, commercially driven approach, with the motivation to take ownership of a sales pipeline and see opportunities through from initial enquiry to completion
The flexibility and willingness to travel extensively across the UK, primarily throughout England, including occasional overnight stays
In this role, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for:
Proactively identifying and pursuing new business opportunities through outbound calls, networking and targeted sales activity
Building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing customers, understanding their requirements and identifying opportunities for future projects
Working closely with customers to understand their technical requirements, using technical drawings and project specifications to help identify suitable solutions
Managing the full business development process, from initial contact and quoting through to securing projects and maintaining ongoing customer relationships
Arranging and attending customer meetings across the UK, both face to face and via Teams, to develop opportunities and strengthen existing partnerships
Maintaining accurate CRM records, monitoring sales activity and providing regular updates on the sales pipeline and business development progress
Representing the business at exhibitions, conferences and industry events, while using LinkedIn and other platforms to build a strong professional network and increase brand awareness
This is a predominantly field-based role, with regular travel across the UK, primarily throughout England, to meet customers, develop new opportunities and support projects. When not travelling, the successful candidate will work from the company's Tewkesbury office, with occasional visits to the company's office in Scotland. The role will suit someone who enjoys being out meeting customers, developing opportunities and building relationships over the long term, rather than simply focusing on short-term sales.
Our client is offering the successful Business Development Manager a salary in the region of £45,000, plus an attractive benefits package including uncapped quarterly commission, company car, fuel card, 21 days' holiday plus bank holidays and pension.
If you're a sales-driven professional with an interest in engineering, manufacturing or technical products, and you're looking for an opportunity to take ownership of your own sales pipeline while developing long-term customer relationships and projects, we'd love to hear from you. Whether you already have experience in a technical sales environment or are looking to bring your engineering or manufacturing knowledge into a more commercially focused role, this could be an excellent next step in your career.
