Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
The National Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Society Limited is seeking a Business Continuity Consultant to strengthen resilience and safeguarding our organisation’s service and financial resilience. You will lead the second line function, guiding incident management, continuity exercises and training across the business.
You will work with departments to conduct Business Impact Assessments, translate impacts into robust continuity plans, and design exercises to test assumptions.
As a Business Continuity Consultant, you'll play a pivotal role in safeguarding our organisation's reputation, service and financial resilience. You'll strengthen our Business Continuity approach, guide the business to think ahead, and ensure we can continue critical services, whether BAU is interrupted, IT experiences an outage, or a site becomes unavailable. Your work will shape how we anticipate risks, prepare our people, and respond confidently when it matters most. You'll operate within a trusted, expert second line team, partnering with stakeholders across every area of the business to build capability and confidence.
You will work closely with departments to conduct Business Impact Assessments, helping them identify critical resources and interdependencies, and translating these into robust, actionable Business Continuity Plans that can be implemented when needed. You'll design and deliver realistic continuity exercises that test assumptions and expose gaps, then turn lessons learned into clear actions that improve resilience across the Group. When disruption occurs, you'll act as an Incident Manager on an on-call rota, coordinating a swift, calm and effective response so we remain within risk appetite and protect our customers. A key focus of the role is enabling others. You'll create and run an engaging training and awareness programme that equips Incident Management Team members, plan owners and senior leaders with the knowledge and confidence to plan for and recover in a crisis or incident. By building strong relationships and communicating clearly, you'll secure buy in, promote a forward-thinking approach to risk, and foster a culture where continuity planning is understood, owned and kept current.
Alongside this, you'll deliver short term projects and targeted improvements that enhance how we prepare and respond. As part of this role, you will be required to become part of our Incident management Team on call rota, which provides a 24/7/365 out of hours support for the business.
You're naturally curious, organised and calm under pressure. You can quickly understand how different departments operate, spot interdependencies, and judge what's truly business critical so you know where to focus when time is tight. You're comfortable asking the right questions and challenging constructively, helping teams make sound, risk aware decisions for our customers and the business. You build trust through clear, inclusive communication and strong stakeholder engagement. Whether you're guiding a senior leader through an incident, facilitating a tabletop exercise, or coaching a new plan owner, you bring people with you, translating continuity concepts into plain English and practical next steps.
You think ahead. You're proactive in strengthening plans, testing assumptions and embedding learning, and you adapt quickly to change. Detail matters to you: you follow through, keep accurate records and make sure actions are closed so resilience genuinely improves. You enjoy variety and switching between structured programme delivery and time critical incident management when needed. Above all, you care about doing the right thing for colleagues and customers, and you're motivated by the impact your work has on organisational resilience.
