Job summary

SGN is seeking a strategic Business Architect to lead BPM, operating models, and architecture governance. You will drive the enterprise process framework, ensure consistency with BPMN standards, and chair governance forums to foster accountability and continuous improvement.

You will develop and maintain business capability models, value streams, and transformation roadmaps while collaborating with Enterprise Architects to ensure alignment across business and technology domains.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop SGN's BPM function and enterprise process management framework.

• Maintain alignment of operating models with strategy and enterprise architecture principles.
• Act as custodian of the Business Architecture Repository and ensure artefacts are current.

Business Process Management & Governance

• Lead and develop SGN's Business Process Management function.

• Own and govern the enterprise process management framework, standards, methodologies, and process hierarchy.

• Ensure business processes are consistently modelled, maintained, and governed in line with BPMN standards and best practice.

• Chair process governance forums and work with process owners to drive accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement.

• Define and monitor process performance measures and maturity metrics.

• Promote the adoption of process management disciplines across the organisation.

Operating Model & Business Design

• Develop and maintain operating models, business capabilities, value streams, business services, and governance structures.

• Support the design of future-state operating models and transformation roadmaps.

• Assess the impact of business and technology change across people, process, information, and technology domains.

• Identify opportunities to improve organisational effectiveness, efficiency, and business performance.

• Ensure operating model changes align with business strategy and enterprise architecture principles.

Business Architecture Repository Management

• Act as custodian of the Business Architecture Repository.

• Ensure business architecture artefacts are accurate, current, and consistently maintained.

• Establish governance and quality controls for architecture assets, including capabilities, value streams, processes, operating models, and organisational structures.

• Work with Enterprise Architects and Business Architects to maintain alignment across business and technology domains.

• Support reporting, analysis, and decision-making through effective repository management.

Business Architecture & Transformation

• Provide business architecture leadership across transformation and change initiatives.

• Develop and maintain business capability models, value streams, and other key business architecture artefacts.

• Support strategic planning, organisational design, and business improvement activities.

• Facilitate workshops and architecture reviews to support business and technology change.

• Contribute to business cases, investment proposals, and transformation programmes.

Stakeholder Management

• Build strong relationships with business leaders and stakeholders across SGN.

• Act as a trusted advisor on process management, operating model design, and business architecture.

• Influence decision-making through effective communication, facilitation, and governance.

• Drive collaboration across functions to ensure enterprise-wide alignment and consistency.

Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop the BPM team.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

• Build organisational capability in Business Architecture and Process Management.

• Support professional development, performance management, and resource planning activities.

• Champion business architecture and process management best practice across the organisation.

What you will need

Essential

• Significant experience in Business Architecture, Business Process Management, Business Transformation, or related leadership roles.

• Strong experience developing and governing enterprise process frameworks, process repositories, and process improvement initiatives.

• Deep understanding of BPMN standards, process governance, and business process management methodologies.

• Experience developing and maintaining operating models, business capabilities, value streams, and business architecture artefacts.

• Experience supporting large-scale transformation and organisational change programmes.

• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to engage senior leaders.

• Experience leading teams and developing organisational capability.

• Degree in Business, Information Systems, Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Desirable

• Professional Business Architecture qualification.

• BPMN certification.

• Lean Six Sigma qualification.

• TOGAF Foundation or equivalent architecture certification.

• Experience with business architecture repositories and governance tools.

• Understanding of Enterprise Architecture frameworks and business transformation methodologies.
