Job summary

Infinigate Group is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join the AI and Data Team. The role focuses on data governance, quality, and Microsoft Purview adoption, delivering measurable business value across stakeholders.

The position is permanent and hybrid, based from Fareham, London, Woking or South Cerney, with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. You will work with stakeholders to define governance processes and data ownership models.

Qualifications

  • Experience in data governance and governance controls.
  • Ability to translate business needs into functional requirements and user stories.
  • Proficiency with data quality concepts and metadata management.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyse and document requirements for data governance initiatives.
  • Document current and future state processes, data flows and governance controls.
  • Support adoption of Purview capabilities such as data catalog, glossary and classifications.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate workshops and interviews to align stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain business documentation, data dictionaries and RAID logs.
  • Use SQL and data profiling to support data quality investigations.
  • Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, architecture and security teams.

Role Purpose

Are you an experienced Business Analyst with a passion for data governance and delivering meaningful business change? Infinigate Group is looking for a skilled professional to join our AI and Data Team, helping to shape governance practices, improve data quality and drive the effective adoption of Microsoft Purview. Working closely with business and technology stakeholders, you'll combine strong analytical expertise with a practical understanding of enterprise data environments to deliver solutions that create measurable business value.

We are pleased to offer this permanent opportunity as a fulltime role, based hybrid from one of our 4 office locations (Fareham, London, Woking or South Cerney) – 3 days in office, 2 working from home.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with business stakeholders, data owners, data stewards and technical teams to gather, analyse and document requirements for data governance initiatives
  • Document current and future state business processes, data flows, roles, responsibilities and governance controls
  • Support the definition and adoption of data ownership, stewardship, data quality, metadata management and data issue management processes
  • Support the configuration, adoption and business use of Microsoft Purview capabilities such as the data catalog, business glossary, collections, classifications, lineage and data quality features
  • Translate business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and prioritised backlogs
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews and playback sessions to align stakeholders and validate requirements, processes and governance outcomes
  • Create and maintain documentation including business requirements, process maps, data dictionaries, glossaries, RAID logs and decision records
  • Use SQL, reporting tools or data profiling outputs to support data analysis, data quality investigation and evidence-based recommendations
  • Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, architecture, security and compliance teams to ensure governance requirements are embedded into solution design
  • Support data quality measurement, root cause analysis, remediation planning and ongoing monitoring of agreed governance metrics
  • Contribute to the development of business glossaries, critical data element definitions, policies, standards and operating procedures
  • Work with stakeholders to define Microsoft Purview glossary terms, ownership models, metadata standards and catalogue enrichment requirements that improve data discoverability and trust
  • Provide clear communication on progress, risks, dependencies and decisions to project teams and senior stakeholders
General Skills
  • Experience using collaboration, documentation and delivery tools such as Microsoft 365, Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Visio or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of data governance concepts including data ownership, stewardship, metadata, lineage, data quality, master data and regulatory considerations
  • Practical understanding of Microsoft Purview concepts including Data Map, Unified Catalog, business glossary, classifications, lineage, collections, stewardship roles and data quality management
  • Ability to use AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve productivity, analysis, documentation quality and stakeholder communication
  • Proven track record delivering business analysis outcomes within data, analytics, governance, compliance or transformation programmes
Personal requirements

  • £45,000 - £55,000 salary per annum
  • 25 days annual leave rising to 28 days with length of service, plus bank holidays.
