Business Analyst

Application Deadline: 27 July 2026

Employment Type: Permanent

Location: Cheadle

Compensation: GBP 50,000 / year

Description

Help shape how one of the world’s leading health research organisations evolves.

At UK Biobank, we’re continually improving how we work, how we deliver technology, and how we support world‑leading health research. As our organisation continues to grow, so do the opportunities to improve processes, introduce new services, and deliver meaningful change across laboratories, imaging centres, digital platforms, and corporate functions.

We’re looking for a Business Analyst who enjoys variety, solving complex problems, and working with people to turn ideas into practical solutions. Whether you’re supporting strategic programmes, improving day‑to‑day operations, or helping deliver transformational projects, you’ll play an important role in shaping how UK Biobank continues to evolve.

Can you do it?

As a Business Analyst, you’ll help shape how UK Biobank delivers change across the organisation, working with colleagues to understand business needs, improve processes, and implement practical solutions that support our strategic objectives.

You’ll work with stakeholders from across the business, bringing together different perspectives to define requirements, map current and future processes, and ensure projects deliver measurable value. Whether supporting digital transformation, operational improvements, or new technology implementations, you’ll play an important role in helping teams work more effectively and deliver better outcomes.

This is a broad role with the opportunity to work across multiple business areas, partnering with Project Managers, technical specialists, and operational teams to support a wide range of initiatives. From facilitating workshops and developing business cases to supporting implementation and continuous improvement, you’ll be involved throughout the project lifecycle.

If you enjoy building relationships, solving complex business challenges, and turning ideas into meaningful change, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact within an organisation supporting world‑leading health research.

You will be responsible for:
  • Working independently and collaboratively to deliver business analysis activities across projects, programmes, and business‑as‑usual initiatives, identifying requirements while managing priorities and stakeholder expectations.
  • Identifying and documenting business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis requirements, supporting the design and validation of dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Coordinating with Project Managers, technical specialists, and multidisciplinary teams, applying Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery approaches to support successful project outcomes.
  • Leading workshops, stakeholder interviews, and user story mapping sessions to gather requirements and define effective business solutions using a range of recognised Business Analysis techniques.
  • Evaluating and improving business processes by analysing current ways of working, identifying opportunities for improvement, and collaborating with subject matter experts to deliver practical change.
  • Developing business cases, process maps, user journeys, system documentation, and business requirements that support successful delivery across both new and existing initiatives.
Is this you?
  • A degree or equivalent experience in business analysis or a related field, working across multidisciplinary teams and working environments.
  • Experience and proficiency in applying both Agile and Waterfall methodologies while supporting business change and benefits realisation.
  • Hands‑on experience using business intelligence or data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a broad range of Business Analysis techniques to requirements gathering, process mapping, business case development, and stakeholder engagement.
  • The ability to identify, investigate, analyse, and communicate complex business problems and opportunities using structured Business Analysis approaches.

Working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with 2 days onsite and hybrid working available. Based across Park Square and Manchester Science Park, this role offers the opportunity to work with teams across the organisation while maintaining a healthy balance between collaborative office working and flexibility.
