We proudly manage a diverse portfolio of 2,700 properties across England, catering to the needs of 6,300 customers. This extensive portfolio represents approximately 10% of the total NHS estate. Our properties range from historic listed buildings to state-of-the-art integrated care centres, encompassing hospitals, GP practices, and administrative offices.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join our team based in the South, this is a hybrid role that will provide a mixture of working from home or in one of our local hubs.

About the role:

The purpose of this role is to provide building surveying to establish the condition of the buildings within the NHSPS estate through completing on-site property surveys and producing subsequent condition reports. A key focus of the Building Surveyor is to provide the report information to the development building maintenance programme and inform strategic decision making of the estate.

This is a 12- month Fixed Term Contract

What you will do:

• Work alongside NHS PS Delivery functions to deliver a programme of condition surveys across the leasehold estate, and manage the cyclical re-survey programme for the freehold estate (circa 1,400 properties).
• Undertake quality assurance of fabric condition surveys completed by external consultants, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
• Interpret survey data and define data requirements to support and maintain the five-year Forward Maintenance Register (FMR).
• Act as a key link between condition survey data and regional capital teams, supporting the risk assessment of annual backlog and lifecycle replacement plans.
• Provide advice and input into data-informed investment planning and strategic decision-making processes.
• Support wider company initiatives—such as energy and environmental programmes, smarter buildings, and accessibility audits—ensuring these are reflected in backlog planning and FMR data.
• Serve as a regional centre of expertise for fabric condition matters, offering ad hoc advice and general building surveying support to operational and capital teams across the business.

What you will bring to the role:

• Experience working with large organisations with an extensive diverse property portfolio
• Experience carrying out condition surveys and producing reports
• Experience creating Dilapidation Liability Assessment reports
• Experience managing consultants, contractors and budgets
• Knowledge of statutory regulations and guidance
• BSc Building Survey or similar degree with demonstratable experience
• Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
