Job summary

Daniel Owen Ltd is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor / Stock Condition Surveyor in Oxfordshire. The role focuses on stock condition, disrepair, repairs and voids within social housing or Local Authority portfolios, producing robust technical and legal reports.

You will assess property condition, prepare specifications and cost estimates, and liaise with housing, legal and property teams. A full UK driving licence is required and RICS is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in social housing or Local Authority environments.
• Strong knowledge of stock condition, disrepair, repairs, voids or refurbishment.
• Excellent technical report-writing skills suitable for legal purposes.
• Understanding of building defects, repairs, and housing condition.
• Experience with housing, legal and property teams.
• Qualified surveying/construction certification; RICS desirable.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Undertake stock condition surveys, inspections, and defect diagnosis across social housing properties.
• Assess disrepair, repairs, void properties, and overall property condition.
• Produce clear, robust technical and legal reports.
• Identify defects and recommend remedial works and maintenance solutions.
• Prepare specifications, schedules of works, and cost estimates.
• Inspect works and liaise with contractors, housing teams, legal teams, and stakeholders.
• Provide technical advice to Local Authorities, Housing Associations, and social housing clients.
• Support planned maintenance, refurbishment, and asset management programmes.
