Job summary

Gateley Smithers Purslow is seeking a Building Surveyor to join the team in Nottingham. The role focuses on diverse projects across the Midlands and surrounding areas, supporting the Surveying team on residential and commercial buildings.

You will work under the Line Manager, handling projects within your authority level and mentoring junior staff, while upholding our professional standards and customer service values.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying
• Experience and knowledge of engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices and procedures with awareness of statutory requirements and technical publications.
• Experience in Defect Diagnosis and report writing
• Insurance repair project experience preferred
• Experience managing deadlines and budgets on large scale projects
• Experience and understanding of CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall and Building Regulation legislation
• Strong mathematical, scientific and IT skills with methodical problem solving
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Flexible and variable attitude to work type

Responsibilities

• Inspect and advise on design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of buildings and sites
• Inspections including acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations
• Prepare reports, schedules of work and works specifications
• Design and oversee works using recognised building contracts to current standards
• Understand and apply health & safety, party wall, building regulations and planning laws
• Help promote the company’s services and secure projects
• Comply with company procedures and Health & Safety regulations
