Building Surveyor (Fire Remediation) – (JPC-36)

Location: London Office

Overview:

This national, medium sized multi-disciplinary, team centric organisation is seeking a professional and experienced Building Surveyor to join their team in a specialist Project Monitoring Role, supporting fire remediation works across residential schemes. The ideal candidate will be an integral team member in the effective delivery of projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, and liaising with key stakeholders including fire engineers, project managers, and directors. This is a vital role in improving the safety and integrity of residential buildings.

Location:

London (with travel to sites across Greater London and surrounding areas)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and support the delivery of fire remediation works across multiple sites.
  • Undertake site inspections, condition surveys, and defect analysis in line with building pathology expertise.
  • Liaise with fire engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure quality, compliance, and project progress.
  • Report directly to the Director in charge with updates, risks, and recommendations.
  • Review technical reports, drawings, and specifications relating to fire safety and remediation.
  • Ensure compliance with all current legislation including Building Regulations and Building Safety Case requirements.
  • Provide professional advice and support to clients including Housing Associations and Local Authorities.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports and written communications as required.
  • Maintain records and documentation for audit and regulatory purposes.
  • Work collaboratively within a close-knit, team-centric environment, while also managing tasks independently.

Person Specification:

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • MRICS or equivalent professional membership or minimum of 3 years post-degree experience in building surveying.
  • Strong knowledge of building surveying and building pathology.
  • Experience in fire remediation or defect-related project monitoring in the residential sector.
  • Demonstrated understanding of social housing and working with Housing Associations or Local Authorities.
  • Working knowledge of Building Regulations and Building Safety Case requirements.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – confident in liaising with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and documentation skills.
  • Highly literate and numerate with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently using own initiative, while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively.
  • Previous experience working with or alongside fire engineers.
  • Exposure to safety case preparation and management under the Building Safety Act.
  • Experience in delivering projects within occupied buildings or complex stakeholder environments.
