Job summary

Herefordshire Council is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join its Property Services team. The role involves surveying across a diverse estate, ensuring buildings are safe, compliant and well maintained, and supporting capital project delivery.

You will work with partner organisations and PMO, providing professional building surveying advice and taking on contract administrator duties where required.

Qualifications

• Experience as Building Surveyor in a property environment.
• RICS Chartered Surveyor qualification.
• Knowledge of conservation and planning policy, particularly for historic/listed buildings.
• Experience acting as Contract Administrator on building/construction projects.
• Experience acting as Principal Designer.

Responsibilities

• Undertake building surveying and property-related work across the council estate.
• Support the council in maintaining a safe, compliant, well-managed property portfolio.
• Work with partner organisation and PMO on building compliance and safety.
• Identify defects, risks, maintenance requirements and other issues.
• Provide technical advice and recommendations to colleagues across the council.
• Support delivery of capital projects with the PMO.
• Act as Contract Administrator on projects.
• Act as Principal Designer where required.
