Brighton & Hove City Council's Building Surveying Team is offering a position with varied duties across the council’s buildings, including schools, social care premises, non-housing buildings and listed historic buildings. The role supports carbon reduction goals and works with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers on refurbishment projects as part of a design team approach.

We need team players who are strong on health and safety, confident on AutoCAD, proactive in monitoring contractor performance on site, and able to work flexibly in a busy, trusted team. You will be well supported as you grow your career, whether you are qualified or working towards qualification as a Building Surveyor (RICS, CIOB or similar). The council will help you through your APC with dedicated study time and provide a programme of in-house training and CPDs to help you grow and succeed. As an incentive, when you qualify, we will even pay your annual subs.
You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of Client teams across the City to support service provision, corporate objectives and ensure the best use of our assets. We remain sustainably independent as we generate fees through the works we manage, staying busy with further programmes of work.
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only. The council offers hybrid working arrangements. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for the team, and travel to and from the location would be at your own expense.
