Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited is recruiting a Building Structures Engineer for a leading UK infrastructure consultancy. You will design and deliver structural designs, calculations, drawings and technical documentation for infrastructure and Ministry of Justice projects, including prisons and other secure facilities.

The role welcomes applications from developing engineers at Assistant level as well as experienced Building Structures Engineers, with progression toward incorporated/chartered

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience producing structural designs and calculations.
• Knowledge of steel, concrete, masonry and timber structures.
• Familiarity with Structural Eurocodes and Building Regulations.
• Experience using structural design and analysis software.
• Familiarity with Tekla Structural Designer and Tekla Tedds.
• Strong written and verbal communication within multidisciplinary teams.
• Incorporated or Chartered status or commitment to registration.

Responsibilities

• Produce structural designs, calculations, drawings and documentation.
• Develop safe, practical, compliant structural solutions.
• Support projects from feasibility through design to handover.
• Assess existing buildings and develop refurbishment/strengthening options.
• Coordinate designs with architects and other disciplines.
• Use structural analysis and 3D modelling software.
• Undertake site surveys, inspections and assessments.
• Prepare reports, specifications and tender information.
• Identify design hazards and support CDM compliance.
• Manage work against quality, cost and schedule.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior team members where appropriate.
