Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Building Structural Technician to join our Building Engineering team in Glasgow or Edinburgh. You will produce high‑quality technical drawings, models and documentation while mentoring Apprentice and Trainee Technicians.

Reporting to Senior Technicians you will contribute to successful project delivery with accuracy and efficiency. You will work with internal and external design professionals to coordinate models, perform inspections, and ensure buildability of designs.

Qualifications

• A relevant HND/Degree or minimum of 4 years of experience as a Structural Technician.
• Ability to produce high-quality 2D/3D drawings, models and schedules.
• Understanding of project stages, health and safety implications, and QA procedures.
• Strong collaboration with diverse project teams and stakeholders; mentoring opportunities.

Stantec is seeking a Building Structural Technician to join our dynamic Building Engineering team in either Glasgow or Edinburgh. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering high‑quality technical solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects.

About the Role

As a Structural Technician, you will be at the heart of our project delivery, producing high‑quality technical drawings, models and documentation whilst assisting with mentoring of Apprentice and Trainee Technicians. Reporting directly to Senior Technicians you will contribute to the successful delivery of projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all technical outputs.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce 2D/3D models, drawings, and schedules independently for a range of engineering projects. Understand and communicate health and safety implications related to our design, and advise the team on potential risks.
• Work closely with internal and external design professionals to coordinate technical models and documentation control and ensure seamless coordination throughout all project phases.
• Undertake engineering inspections to compare construction works against design, report any discrepancies and assist engineers in structural inspections and reports. Apply an understanding of buildability and practical engineering solutions to projects.
• Contribute to internal task groups to improve workflows, share knowledge, and support efforts to enhance technical standards and efficiency across the business.
