Job summary

The Bedford College Group is seeking a Technician in Building Services to join our Construction department. The role focuses on workshop management, stock and budgets, and practical delivery to support high-quality student learning at the Corby and Wellingborough campuses.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant trade diploma, maintain resources, ensure safety, and assist lecturers while promoting safeguarding and professional development across college locations.

Qualifications

• Holds a relevant Construction or Building Services trade diploma, with practical industry experience.
• Able to maintain stock inventories, order materials, and manage tools/equipment.
• Strong knowledge of safe working practices, COSHH, and safety compliance; First Aid and forklift qualifications encouraged.
• Demonstrates learner support, clear communication and teamwork.
• Self-motivated, flexible and able to work across multiple College locations.

Responsibilities

• Workshop environment management and standards to support high-quality student delivery.
• Manage stock, budgets and resources; monitor expenditure.
• Support lecturers and learners in practical delivery and activities.
• Maintain safe, clean workshops; manage safety compliance and risk assessments.
• Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity & inclusion and ongoing professional development.
