Job summary

Royal Bank of Scotland in Edinburgh is seeking a Building Services Shift Technician to join our Data Centre team. You will be responsible for day-to-day operation of the site, ensuring the reliability of all facility services and acting as the key interface for projects through the helpdesk and supply partners.

This 35-hour, office-first role operates in a 24/7/365 environment, focusing on planned and reactive maintenance, risk and compliance, and collaboration with suppliers and internal teams

Qualifications

  • Solid technical background in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with building services and M&E systems in critical environments.
  • Strong knowledge of risk, compliance and safety management.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a safe and efficient environment through planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring 100% uptime.
  • Delivering facilities services in line with approved procedures, standards, and service level agreements.
  • Supporting M&E upgrades, project work, and infrastructure investment initiatives.
  • Managing and controlling permit-to-work systems for maintenance and project activities.
  • Monitoring and reviewing key performance indicators, identifying trends and implementing improvements.
  • Ensuring compliance with operational standards, quality processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Managing supplier and contractor relationships to optimise performance and value for money.
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and suppliers.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on facilities operations, risk, and compliance.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a varied and critical role, supporting the safe and efficient operation of essential mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems

Working within a 24/7/365 environment, you will act as a trusted partner across operations, collaborating with teams to enhance processes, improve performance, and deliver exceptional customer experiences

What you'll do

As a Building Services Shift Technician, you will take ownership of the day-to-day operation of the site, ensuring the ongoing performance and reliability of all facility services. You'll Act as the key interface for any projects within the property, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace with planned and reactive maintenance, through the helpdesk and supply partners.

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you'll need a solid technical background and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, critical environment.

We'll also look to you to bring:

  • HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with building services and M&E systems in a critical environment
  • Strong understanding of risk, compliance, and safety management practices
