Job summary

KeolisAmey Docklands is seeking a Building Services Maintenance Technician (Electrical & Mechanical Maintainer) to join our Engineering team and help ensure the safe, efficient operation of station, depot and trackside assets across the DLR network.

This hands-on role requires fault-finding skills and a proactive approach to maintenance while upholding the highest safety standards in a safety-critical railway environment, with a shift pattern including day and night work.

  • Good standard of numeracy and literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance across DLR stations, depots, trackside locations and equipment rooms.
  • Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and building services assets.
  • Support Electrical Technicians and Electrical Testers in delivering maintenance activities.
  • Maintain HVAC equipment including air handling units, fan coil units, heaters, pumps, fans and related systems.
  • Undertake water hygiene activities, including temperature monitoring, inspections, flushing and compliance checks.
  • Conduct utility meter readings, plant inspections, fire alarm tests and sprinkler system checks.
  • Carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
  • Supervise contractors and third-party personnel around railway assets.
  • Complete maintenance records, job sheets, inspection reports and compliance documentation accurately and on time.
  • Contribute to incident reporting, investigations and continuous improvement activities.
  • Work in accordance with risk assessments, method statements, safety procedures and engineering standards.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and compliance with railway and statutory requirements.

We are looking for a Building Services Maintenance Technician (Electrical & Mechanical Maintainer) to join our Engineering team and help ensure the safe, efficient and reliable operation of station, depot and trackside assets across the DLR network.

The Role

As a Building Services Maintenance Technician (Electrical & Mechanical Maintainer), you will carry out preventative and corrective maintenance activities across a wide range of electrical, mechanical and building services assets. Working as part of a dedicated maintenance team, you will help keep critical infrastructure operating safely and efficiently while contributing to excellent customer service and operational performance.

This is a hands‑on role requiring strong fault‑finding skills, a proactive approach to maintenance and a commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards within a safety‑critical railway environment.

The role operates on a split shift pattern, including both day and night shifts.

What You'll Do
  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance activities across DLR stations, depots, trackside locations and equipment rooms.
  • Inspect, diagnose and repair a variety of electrical, mechanical and building services assets.
  • Support Electrical Technicians and Electrical Testers in delivering maintenance activities.

About You
  • Good standard of numeracy and literacy.
  • Experience in the repair and maintenance of building services, HVAC systems, electrical equipment, electronic equipment or mechanical systems.
  • City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2, NVQ Level 3 in an Electrical or Mechanical discipline, or equivalent qualification.
  • Ability to demonstrate logical fault-finding techniques using schematics and test equipment.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and engineering best practice.
  • Ability to use a PC and digital systems.
  • Current UK driving licence.
  • Ability to pass a Personal Track Safety (PTS) Medical and Safety Critical Medical.
  • Plumbing qualification (NVQ/C&G Level 2 or Level 3).
  • Experience using Enterprise Asset Management systems such as Maximo.
  • Experience of safety management systems.
  • Rail industry experience.
  • Existing railway permits and competencies.
  • Planning and prioritisation skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
