Hilson Moran in Manchester is seeking a proactive Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our expanding team. You will deliver electrical design services across commercial, residential and mixed-use projects, applying sustainable and efficient design thinking to meet client briefs.

You will work within a collaborative project team, contribute to QA processes, and mentor junior staff. The role offers hybrid working and opportunities across a diverse portfolio within the UK and overseas.

Qualifications

• Experience across commercial (new build, refurbishments and fit out), residential and mixed-use developments.
• Solid understanding of Building Services Engineering Systems and their operation.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 standards and sustainable design practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical design deliverables to high quality standards, reviewing documents to fix discrepancies.
• Assist with delivery of large, complex projects on time and to high technical standards.
• Quality control: prepare calculations, specifications and drawings compliant with client briefs.
• Collaborate with project team and lead QA processes to meet industry standards and client expectations.
• Coordinate with clients to address quality concerns and ensure milestones are met.
• Support senior staff, mentor early career staff and contribute to design process improvements.

We are seeking to employ an proactive and enthusiastic Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our expanding team in Manchester.

As an experienced professional who ideally holds professional accreditation or is actively pursuing it, you will bring an extensive portfolio demonstrating your expertise and capabilities.

You will deliver your design services within a diverse and challenging range of design projects. Your project range Will vary, demonstrating experience across a range of different scales, complexity, sectors, and geographies.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide the highest technical and quality standards in all design deliverables. This includes thoroughly reviewing design documents, specifications, and drawings to identify and rectify any discrepancies or errors.
• Assist with the delivery of large complex and niche projects on time and to the highest technical standard.
• Monitor the quality control on projects to ensure the company quality standards are achieved, prepare calculations/specifications and drawings, ensuring they comply with the client’s brief.
• Collaborate closely with your project team and lead the implementation of quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations and the client’s expectations are aligned.
• Coordinate with clients to address quality-related concerns and ensure that all project milestones are met with the highest precision and accuracy.
• Assist the project lead in ensuring all additional work undertaken is appropriately identified, and additional fees are claimed where appropriate.
• Contributes to successfully executing projects and supporting clients in achieving their objectives efficiently and effectively.
• Reviews resources and advises seniors of potential resource issues.
• Provide guidance and support to our early career staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in design quality.
• Contribute to innovative ideas and solutions to improve design processes and outcome.

Background & Qualifications:

• Experience in commercial (new build, refurbishments and fit out), residential and mixed-use developments.
• Comprehensive understanding of Building Services Engineering Systems including their performance, application, and operation.
• Expertise in mitigating design-related legal and regulatory risks.
• MSc or BSc in Environmental or Engineer discipline.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 standards.
• Membership of relevant professional bodies.
• Analytical skills to influence the drive for continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in sustainable building design, renewable energy and low-carbon technologies.
• Knowledge and skills to minimise risk of design-related legal or regulatory issues.
• Ability to estimate project budgets and resource requirements effectively.
