Job Title: Building Services Engineer

Location: West Midlands (Office-based)

Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 (DOE)

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

The Role

In this role, you will deliver construction-level mechanical designs across a wide range of low-carbon projects — including energy centres, district networks, and sub-plantroom changeovers. Projects involve various heat pump systems such as Ground Source, Air Source, Waste Heat Recovery, and River Source technologies, ranging from 200kW to 40MW in scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and review detailed P&ID designs for complex mechanical systems
• Take concept designs through to full RIBA Stage 6 construction detail
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Conduct on-site surveys with senior engineers to assess existing systems
• Collaborate closely with internal teams across sales, fabrication, and engineering
• Support technical queries and ensure designs are safe and compliant
• Manage multiple projects across various delivery phases

Essential Skills & Experience

• Experience in Building Services or HVAC design
• Engineering degree or equivalent background
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit
• Strong understanding of mechanical hydraulics and plantroom systems
• Track record of delivering detailed designs in renewable energy or HVAC sectors
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Motivated, self-sufficient, and eager to contribute to a fast-paced environment

Desirable

• Experience with large energy centres (CHP, boilers, packaged plantrooms)
• Familiarity with HTMs and previous work on healthcare or hospital projects
• Awareness of M&E RIBA Stages 3–6
• Team-oriented with a collaborative attitude
