Job summary

Sphere Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Building Services Engineer for projects in Bristol and the regional area. You will help design, coordinate and deliver high-quality mechanical services across multiple live schemes, ensuring compliance with deadlines and budgets.

The role demands HVAC expertise, strong coordination with consultants and subcontractors, and the ability to drive value engineering while maintaining safety and quality standards on site throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience within Mechanical Building Services on construction projects.
• A Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification).
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plant, mechanical systems and design coordination.
• Experience working with consultants, subcontractors and project delivery teams.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills. The ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Support tender and pre-construction activities, reviewing consultant designs and specifications.
• Carry out buildability reviews and provide value engineering solutions.
• Coordinate design teams and chair technical design workshops.
• Manage technical queries (RFIs) and ensure design compliance.
• Review subcontractor tenders and assess technical submissions.
• Coordinate mechanical plant, equipment and specialist subcontractors.
• Manage installation drawings and ensure projects stay on programme.
• Undertake site inspections and work with construction teams.
• Support commissioning and ensure high-quality project delivery.

The Role

As a Mechanical Building Services Engineer, you’ll play a key role throughout the project lifecycle, from pre‑construction through to delivery, ensuring mechanical building services are designed, coordinated and installed to the highest standards.
