Job summary

PT Renewables is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a Cardiff-based Building Services consultancy. You will own mechanical designs from concept through to detailed design and delivery across commercial, education, industrial and public-sector projects.

The role requires solid MEP background, strong Revit skills, and experience with design software such as Hevacomp, MagiCAD or IES VE. You will collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams and clients in a busy consultancy

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical building services design.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC and MEP systems.
• Proficient with Revit in building services environments.
• Experience with Hevacomp, MagiCAD, IES VE or similar design software.
• Understanding of mechanical calculations and system design.
• Consultancy or MEP experience.
• Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Building Services Engineering.
• Working towards CIBSE/IMechE membership or accreditation.
• Experience across commercial, education, healthcare or industrial projects.
• Strong client-facing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services

The Role

We’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established Building Services consultancy in Cardiff, working across a strong portfolio of commercial, industrial, education and public-sector projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Intermediate to Senior Engineer with a solid MEP background who wants to take ownership of mechanical designs from concept through to detailed design and delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing HVAC, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and public health systems
• Producing mechanical calculations, specifications and technical reports
• Developing and coordinating designs using Revit
• Working closely with electrical, structural and architectural teams
• Supporting projects from concept through to construction
• Attending design meetings and liaising with clients and project teams
• Ensuring designs meet current British Standards, regulations and client requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in Mechanical Building Services Design
• Strong knowledge of HVAC and MEP systems
• Confident using Revit within a building services environment
• Experience with Hevacomp, MagiCAD, IES VE or similar design software
• Strong understanding of mechanical calculations and system design
• Consultancy or MEP experience
