Job summary

Bimplus in Manchester is looking for a Building Services Design Engineer to contribute to HVAC and mechanical projects from concept through to detailed design and delivery.

You will produce mechanical and HVAC designs, perform heat loss and heat gain calculations, size plant, produce drawings and technical specs, and coordinate with project managers, estimators and site teams. This hands-on role provides strong pre-construction and delivery exposure and clear progression paths.

Qualifications

• Experience in Building Services, Mechanical or HVAC design.
• Strong understanding of air conditioning, VRF/VRV and ventilation.
• Confident producing technical drawings and calculations.
• Good understanding of UK building regulations and industry standards.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

We're recruiting a Building Services Design Engineer for a growing specialist HVAC and mechanical contractor based in Manchester.

This is a hands-on design role supporting commercial air conditioning, ventilation and mechanical projects from initial concept through to detailed design and project delivery.

The Role

• Produce mechanical and HVAC designs for commercial projects
• Carry out heat loss / heat gain calculations
• Size and select air conditioning, ventilation and mechanical plant
• Produce drawings, schematics and technical specifications
• Coordinate designs with project managers, estimators and site teams
• Review consultant drawings and client requirements
• Support technical submissions and equipment selections
• Assist with value engineering and design optimisation
• Attend design meetings and site surveys where required
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and regulations

The Candidate

• Experience in Building Services, Mechanical or HVAC Design
• Strong understanding of:
• Air conditioning
• VRF / VRV
• Ventilation
• Mechanical building services
• Confident producing technical drawings and calculations
• Experience with AutoCAD and ideally Revit
• Good understanding of UK building regulations and industry standards
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Mechanical or Building Services qualification preferred
