Building Safety Officer

Are you a proactive and customer-focused individual with a passion for building safety? An exciting opportunity has arisen at a London based Housing Association as a building safety officer. This role focuses on ensuring properties are safe and compliant, while also engaging and informing residents. The role is interim initially, with the aim to convert into permanent.

Key duties:

  • Support compliant building and fire safety management across a varied property portfolio
  • Help maintain safety standards, compliance, and resident engagement
  • Assist with commissioning and tracking Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) and action follow-up
  • Conduct or support fire door inspections in communal and private areas
  • Oversee fire safety servicing (e.g., alarms, emergency lighting)
  • Coordinate remedial fire safety works with contractors and consultants
  • Keep accurate records of building safety and compliance
  • Carry out monthly checks on higher-risk buildings

Client Requirements:

  • Experience in fire safety or compliance, ideally in housing or the public sector
  • Knowledge of fire safety laws and legislation
  • Understanding of fire risk assessments and managing follow-up actions
  • Skilled in working with contractors, consultants, and internal teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general IT systems
