About the Role
The post holder will handle a range of building control, planning, and housing adaptation duties. They will be responsible for managing multiple projects daily, ensuring compliance with building regulations and standards for construction or conversion projects.
Responsibilities
- Support and mentor less experienced technical staff to uphold our standards and service levels in RBCA and related activities.
- Assist in the introduction and delivery of new products and services.
- Assess applications.
- Attend meetings, training sessions, and seminars as required.
- Represent Assent professionally and advocate for the business.
- Manage a portfolio of projects within a specific geographical area.
- Provide technical support and guidance to clients and team members.
- Manage inspection visits efficiently, adhering to plan checking requirements.
- Maintain accurate inspection records.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers to promote business growth.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to build meaningful relationships.
Qualifications
- Detail-oriented with a process-driven approach.
- Ability to make pragmatic decisions ensuring safe, compliant buildings.
- Ability to work independently/remotely following established policies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Chartered or working towards full membership of the Chartered Institute of Building Engineers or RICS.
- Hold and maintain appropriate Technical Class 3 or 2F RBI status.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Building Safety Act (2022).
- Understanding of health and safety principles.
- Knowledge of the construction design process and RIBA Stages.
- Adherence to the competency framework and professional conduct rules.
- Understanding of customer care principles and equal opportunities.
- Experience in ensuring compliance with Building Regulations across various building types.
- Effective self-management of site inspections and reporting.
- Experience in assessing safety and risk within a building control environment.
- Ability to develop strong internal relationships across teams.
- Relationship management skills with design and construction stakeholders.
- Ability to assess compliance against regulations and legislation.
- Experience in plan checking across various project types.
