Job summary

ISS is seeking a skilled Fabric Technician to perform planned preventative maintenance and reactive fabric tasks in commercial buildings. The role emphasizes safe, accurate work within approved priorities and maintaining detailed records.

The successful candidate will diagnose faults, uphold high housekeeping standards, and operate within COSHH and safety procedures. A Level 2 trade qualification or time-served multi-trade experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial building fabric repairs and planned maintenance.
• Ability to perform minor carpentry, patch repairs and basic plumbing.
• Knowledge of risk assessments, COSHH and permit controls.
• Accurate record-keeping and reporting of work.
• IPAF and PASMA certifications beneficial.
• Level 2 trade qualification or time-served multi-trade experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete planned and reactive fabric maintenance across building assets.
• Carry out repairs to doors, ironmongery, partitions, ceilings, flooring and finishes.
• Undertake minor carpentry and basic plumbing within competence.
• Inspect building fabric for deterioration and safety defects.
• Diagnose faults and escalate residual risks or specialist requirements.
• Maintain safe access routes and keep areas clean and serviceable.
• Follow risk assessments, method statements, permits, isolation procedures and COSHH controls.
• Maintain accurate work reports, asset records and test results in systems.
• Support contractor oversight by monitoring quality and reporting non-conformance.
