Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking two permanent full-time Building Control Inspectors to join the council's Building Control service. The role covers plan checking, site inspections, enforcement and dangerous structures oversight across borough developments, with flexible and hybrid working.

Membership and registration with Building Safety Regulator required, with support to progress to higher classes.

Qualifications

• Membership of a relevant professional body, such as CABE or RICS.
• Registration with Building Safety Regulator as a Building Inspector (Class 2D or above).
• Experience of plan checking, site inspections and enforcement.
• Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and associated legislation.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of the Building Control service and the Building Safety Regime.
• Act as professional lead on Building Regulations, Building Act and Building Safety Act matters.
• Manage plan checking and site inspection caseloads.
• Take enforcement action where necessary to secure compliance.
• Investigate dangerous structures and oversee demolition controls.
• Maintain accurate site records and application information.
• Support colleagues and share professional best practice.
• Prepare reports and deliver work programmes to agreed targets.
• Act as an ambassador for the Council and maintain compliance with BICoF and Building Safety Regulator requirements.
• Provide specialist support to the Building Safety Regulator.
• Deputise for the Building Control Technical Manager where appropriate.
