Job summary

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is seeking an Assistant Building Control Surveyor to develop expertise in a progressive Building Control service. Based in the borough, you will assess and inspect a range of developments, ensuring safety, compliance and energy efficiency while managing your own portfolio with support from a skilled team.

Qualifications

• Registered Class 1 or Class 2A/2B Building Inspector and working toward professional membership with a recognised body such as RICS, CABE or CIOB.
• Experience preparing technical reports and a solid understanding of Building Regulations 2010 and approved documents.
• Experience working within a structured quality management system; accuracy and consistency are important.
• Organised, proactive and able to manage time effectively in a busy environment with strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Carry out technical assessments of building work to ensure compliance with health, safety and energy conservation standards.
• Manage your own portfolio of development sites with clear records for plan appraisals and site inspections.
• Work on Class 2A/2B developments applying the Building Act 1984 and Building Regulations 2010.
• Support enforcement activity to address non-compliance and uphold standards.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, developers, residents and external agencies; provide clear guidance.
• Contribute to ISO 9001 quality standards and maintain a customer-focused, efficient Building Control function.
