The Opportunity

We are seeking a BSL Specialist Teaching Assistant to support Deaf and hearing-impaired children across various schools. Join a supportive team of professionals. The position is full-time with potential for permanence for the right candidate.

Details:

  1. Location – Gateshead
  2. Position – Specialist Teaching Assistant with Level 2 British Sign Language
  3. Type of work – Contract
  4. Start date – 02/09/2024
  5. Duration – Ongoing
  6. Rate of pay – GBP 80 to GBP 120 per day, depending on qualifications
  7. Hours – To be confirmed

Experience, Training, and Qualifications:

  1. Qualified Teaching Assistant
  2. Previous experience with Deaf or hearing-impaired children is preferred
  3. Experience with specialist resources and technologies for supporting hearing-impaired children
  4. Proficiency in British Sign Language alongside speech to facilitate communication is essential

Eligibility:

  1. Right to work in the UK
  2. Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or willingness to obtain one
  3. Two professional child-related references
  4. Full UK driving license
