Job summary

Protocol Education Ltd. is seeking a full-time BSL Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Heaton.

The role focuses on supporting Deaf learners and pupils with hearing impairments, using British Sign Language to facilitate communication and access to the curriculum. You will work with teachers and SEND professionals to create an inclusive environment, encourage confidence, and promote social interaction while monitoring progress and achievements across lessons and

Qualifications

• Recognised BSL qualification or strong practical experience using British Sign Language.
• Clear communication with learners, teachers and staff.
• Commitment to supporting Deaf learners and inclusive education.

Responsibilities

• Support learners who use British Sign Language.
• Facilitate communication during lessons and school activities.
• Help pupils access learning materials and instructions.
• Encourage confidence, independence and social interaction.
• Work closely with teachers, SENDCOs and specialist professionals.
• Support learners on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Promote inclusion across the classroom and wider school.
• Monitor progress and celebrate individual achievements.
