Job summary

Met Office in the United Kingdom is offering a 12-month Year in Industry placement starting July 2027. This fully employed placement sits within the Broadcast Graphics DevOps team, developing software used to produce weather graphics for internal and external media customers.

The role supports a hybrid working model with a minimum of one office day per week, 37 hours per week, and a path to our Graduate Development scheme after graduation, subject to programme availability and performance.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree with a placement year (sandwich year).
• Knowledge of at least one programming language, ideally Python.
• Interest in IT and keeps up to date with current and future IT developments.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to plan and organise work using own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Develop applications that support broadcast graphics software.
• Support internal media customers by investigating and troubleshooting issues.
• Work in an agile DevOps team to maintain the broadcast graphics estate.
• Test the integrity of the broadcast graphics software and supporting applications.
• Explore new capabilities and contribute ideas for future improvements.
