Job summary

GAC UK in Bristol seeks a Casual MATS Operator to support safe, compliant, and efficient marine and terminal operations. You will act as a key link between vessels, terminals and the MATS team, ensuring timely cargo transfer, documentation and safety checks.

The role requires 2+ years experience, strong communication, and a proactive safety mindset. Training will be provided, with travel between sites and shift flexibility including days, nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ industry experience required.
• Marine or terminal experience desirable.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proactive safety culture understanding.
• Full clean driving licence with own transport.
• Comfortable working outdoors in marine environments.
• Willingness to travel between sites (expenses covered).

Responsibilities

• Assist Jetty Operators to ensure vessels are safely berthed and aligned with shore loading arms and connections.
• Operate valves and monitor vessel discharge with safety checks.
• Conduct regular line walks for leaks and adjust connections as required.
• Complete operational documentation and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
• Carry out tank measurement activities, including dipping and ullaging.
• Sample vessel and shore tanks and report results.
• Coordinate discharge activities with vessel representatives.
• Attend training and maintain competency records.
• Promote safety by reporting hazards, near misses and incidents.
• Travel to various locations to deliver terminal and marine services.
