AECOM is seeking a dynamic Senior Bridge Engineer to join their vibrant team in Basingstoke. In this role, you will lead and manage projects related to bridges and structures, from inspection through design and construction. Your responsibilities will include providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers while delivering projects to quality, time, and budget standards. AECOM offers flexible work options, allowing you to work from their office, remotely, or on a client site.

Senior Bridge Engineer – Basingstoke

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Bridge Engineer to join our vibrant Basingstoke team, who take pride in working together to provide positive project outcomes for our clients.

We work for leading UK&I and international clients on a wide range of commissions of varying scale across all sectors. Current and recent projects include Network Rail CAFA Wessex, Thames Water pipe bridges, M40 DBFO, Devonport, and assessment and inspection projects for local authorities.

Daily Responsibilities

• Lead and manage bridges and structures projects from inspection and assessment through design, construction and maintenance, producing high‑quality deliverables.
• Apply cutting‑edge approaches in structural analysis, design solutions and project controls.
• Present clearly to clients and colleagues through reports, drawings, sketches and conversations.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and development of junior team members.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Bridge, Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered or near‑Chartered/Incorporated with ICE or IStructE (or equivalent) and appropriate experience.
• Strong technical capabilities across inspection, assessment and design; able to supervise graduates and technicians.
• Proven project delivery to quality, time and budget with effective risk and change control.
• Experience in road and/or rail environments.
• Experience working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Previous exposure with clients of both national and local authorities and major contractors.
• Ability to manage Health & Safety responsibilities and ensure CDM compliance.
• Working knowledge of structural analysis software such as LUSAS, MIDAS, SOFiSTiK or Structural Bridge Design.
• Experience with structural Eurocodes, National Highways standards (DMRB, MCHW) or Network Rail standards; AASHTO beneficial.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
