Job summary

COWI A/S in Glasgow is seeking an Assistant Engineer to join our bridge team. You will work on a range of bridge projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and receiving support toward chartership with a tailored career plan.

Responsibilities include producing designs and assessments, calculations, and reports while ensuring high technical standards. Flexible, hybrid working conditions and development opportunities are offered as part of our commitment to professional growth.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng, BSc, MEng, MSc) with clear ambition to work towards Chartered status.
• Experience in an engineering environment, placement or professional role.
• Familiarity with UK standards or equivalent European/Euro Codes.
• Understanding of CDM Regulations, designers’ requirements.
• Commitment to technical excellence and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Produce engineering designs, assessments and evaluations per project requirements.
• Prepare calculations, write reports, and check drawings.
• Check design calculations and drawings performed by others.
• Perform data analysis, develop calculation methods, and deliver high-quality project work.
• Contribute to dissemination of good engineering practice and use in-house tools like the carbon calculation tool.
• Plan and prioritise workload with project manager and report progress against budget and programme.
• Deliver high-accuracy work with thorough self-checking.
• Attend site visits and client meetings.
