Job summary

WSP is seeking an Assistant Engineer / Engineer to deliver civil and bridge projects in the UK, supervising junior staff and ensuring quality within time and budget.

You will contribute to bridge design, strengthening, inspections and civil support while developing through FEA interest, Eurocodes experience, and formal chartership progression. This role offers hybrid work with offices across the UK.

Qualifications

• MEng or MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Graduate membership with ICE or IStructE and approaching chartership.
• Experience in bridge design, maintenance or assessment.
• Familiarity with Eurocodes or sector codes (Network Rail, DMRB).
• Interest in finite element analysis software and parametric design.
• Commercial awareness and cost management understanding.
• Strong report-writing abilities.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; willing to mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Bridge design and related design activities.
• Bridge strengthening/repair, inspections, and assessments.
• General civil/structural engineering support to other teams.
• Feasibility studies and options appraisals.
• Prepare specifications, reports and health & safety risk assessments.
• Prepare fee estimates.
• Supervise junior team members.
